I had a recurrence of TNBC after one year, followed by a really bad experience with the second round of chemo infusions (different chemo). Now, my oncologist says this test shows no more cancer....twice. Once in April and again in August. I'm beyond grateful but feel like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.
My insurance covered PET scans. My earlier scans were when I was on my ex husbands Blue Cross PPO plan before divorce was finalized and my current scans are covered by Medicare and my Cigna medigap policy. I've never had a copay after meeting my annual deductible.
I agree about getting PET scans. I got so much peace of mind with mine after diagnosis and a bunch of other tests.
If you aren't already getting them, ask about PET scans. They found my endometrial cancer recurrence twice now and found my breast cancer the 2nd time I was diagnosed with it.
Does insurance covers PET scan?
First, two clear results in a row is genuinely wonderful news — that's not nothing, that's huge! The anxiety of waiting for the other shoe to drop after a TNBC recurrence is something many MyBCTeam members completely understand and talk about openly.
