I was not menopausal when I was diagnosed in 2017 and had double mastectomy at age 50. In 2019 I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer and was thrust into instant menopause when they removed my ovaries along with uterus and fallopian tubes. I had zero signs of menopause other than no period. Went on that way for years until I was put on AIs last year and then boom, the hot flashes started.
Yea this is the main issue with the hormone inhibitor meds for estrogen positive BC!!! It puts anyone not already in menopause into menopause. When the person is young that is a huge shock to the body bc they still have a good amount of estrogen that is then inhibited. I have read that some younger people with estrogen positive BC have to get a full hysterectomy to stop the main estrogen-making organs (like ovaries) from producing anymore plus start a inhibitor medication for the remaining estrogen-making areas (lke fat). I read these super difficult situations and feel such empathy for them. Try to remember what others are facing bc it seems like it can always be or get worse. It’s not an easy road. Ugh!
