If you are currently experiencing food not tasting right, my son introduced me to ginger root. If you suck on a small piece of ginger root before eating, you WILL taste the flavor of food. What a beautiful and generous thing to share with others going through chemo! 🥰 A MyBCTeam member has shared some wonderful tips for managing taste changes and nausea during chemotherapy treatments.

Ginger is actually a well-known natural remedy for nausea, and sucking on ginger root before eating is a creative and practical way to help with both taste and queasiness. Sipping ginger tea is another option some people find helpful.

Regarding cannabis, it's worth noting that it has shown real promise for managing nausea during chemo. However, it's really important to check with your oncology team before using it, as:

- Availability and legal status varies by location
- Some forms may interact with certain treatments
- Your care team can guide you toward the safest form and dosage for your specific situation

The encouragement and lived experience shared here is truly priceless. Managing taste changes and nausea is one of the toughest parts of chemo, and knowing what worked for a fellow MyBCTeam member can make a real difference.

Wishing everyone strength and good flavor on their journey! 💪

I carried the Ginger candy with me, everywhere! Ginger tea, and ginger ale are good too! It was suggested I switch to plastic utensils when everything tasted so metallic, but the plastic just felt greasy to me- and the stomach would roll. I switched to mostly finger foods, or using bamboo utensils or wooden chopsticks! Hang in there!
