I'm starting to take both of these supplements tonight. I already take magnesium glycinate (240 mg) nightly— I'm going to add 200 mg of L-theanine and 1 mg of melatonin. I hope it helps and improves my sleep quality.

Members shared their personal experiences with melatonin, magnesium glycinate, L-theanine, and tart cherry capsules to help with sleep during cancer treatment. Several members noted that lower doses of melatonin (1-3 mg) worked well for some while others needed higher doses, and a few found timed-release melatonin helpful for staying asleep through the night. A recurring theme was that everyone responds differently, so patience and gradual adjustments are key, and the original poster returned with a happy update that the combination was already improving their sleep after just one week.

Hi there! I have tried melatonin, but it always left me feeling groggy the next morning, so now I take both magnesium glycinate and L-theanine and that combo helps me a lot! I get maybe 5 hours of sleep, then am up for about 2 hours, then another 1-2 hours, depending on what time I went to bed. Good luck with figuring out what dosages / combination / timing works for you - I'm glad you're looking for solutions and are approved for these, because not sleeping is torture!!

I take melatonin, I started with five and then moved to ten because five wasn't doing much. With ten I take it an hour before I go to bed, and then I start to feel drowsy, but it doesn't keep me asleep all night. I do still wake up at three a m. Some nurses have recommended extended release melatonin, but I haven't tried it yet.

Thanks for discussing L-theanine. I am going to research it.

@A MyBCTeam Member I agree. I'd been meaning to add L-theanine for a long time; I'm hopeful it will help with my "mood disorder" too... It's a very fascinating supplement to learn about, and it is safer for me to take than the highly concentrated green tea extract that I was taking before my cancer diagnosis (since the extract could interfere with Kisqali in my liver)

Hi@ AmberClark ,I take a low dose melatonin, magnesium and tart cherry for sleep. It made a huge difference. I also switched the letrozole to morning instead of nighttime. Being able to get a good night's sleep has really helped with brain fog.
Let us know how it works out for you.
