I’ve been taking Claritin/lortadine since before I started chemo on the advice of my oncologist. Have had little to no bone pain so will continue.

Great question! Yes, some MyBCTeam members have tried Claritin (loratadine) for joint pain caused by letrozole, and some have found it helpful.

Great question! Yes, some MyBCTeam members have tried Claritin (loratadine) for joint pain caused by letrozole, and some have found it helpful.

One MyBCTeam member shared: "I'm taking it with letrozole too, and it's helping." Another agreed, saying it worked for them too, even though neither could explain why! Researchers think it may work by blocking histamine, a chemical that may be involved in bone and joint pain caused by breast cancer treatments. While there aren't large clinical trials specifically for letrozole-related joint pain, some smaller studies have shown loratadine can help reduce pain with fewer side effects than other pain relievers like naproxen.

Possible side effects of loratadine to be aware of include:
- Headaches
- Dizziness
- Upset stomach
- Dry mouth It's always best to check with your cancer care team before starting loratadine, just to make sure it's safe alongside your other medications. But it's an over-the-counter option worth asking about! 😊

I would definitely try the Claritin or its generic, Lortadine.

It has helped many.

Always worth a try- didn't do anything for me during chemo- but others definitely benefitted! Good luck! Hugs!
