My oncologists did not want me to take an AI or a CDK inhibitor while I was having chemotherapy or radiation. I started taking the AI on November 1st last year which was about 6 weeks after I finished radiation. I started taking the CDK inhibitor on December 1st which was a month after I started the AI.

Ibrance (palbociclib) is not a chemotherapy drug β€” it's actually a targeted therapy. It works differently from chemo by blocking proteins that help cancer cells grow. It is often taken alongside hormone therapy, not chemotherapy, so it's worth having a detailed conversation with your oncologist about how it fits into your specific treatment plan. As for meditation, the good news is that it can be started at any point β€” before, during, or after treatment. Many people with breast cancer find it really helpful for managing anxiety and stress.

Here are some ways to get started:

- Try a meditation app (many are free!)
- Look into classes at a local wellness center or online
- Start small β€” even 5 minutes of deep breathing counts
- Ask your oncologist for a referral to support services that may include meditation

As one MyBCTeam member put it, meditation can bring a sense of calm almost instantly, even during the toughest moments. It's never too early β€” or too late β€” to give it a try! 🌿
