Great question. It is a possibility that cancer may return. The treatments are trying to remove all the cancer cells but the reality is that some cells may lay dormant for years before they become active again. A lot depends on the type of cancer, the size, are the lymph nodes clean or are there cancer cells.in them and other test the doctor does. It's just different for each person. Even your daily habits can play a part in a return of the cancer. Extra weight, poor diet and alcohol can sometimes lead to a new battle with cancer. We all, at least most of us, worry a bit about the cancer returning. The longer you're cancer free, the less often you seem to worry about it coming back but it still crosses your mind from time to time. Most of us just try to stay busy and live our life to the fullest each day and it works most of the time. It does get better and sometimes you can go months without thinking about the possibility of the cancer returning. I promise. It does get better after the surgery and treatments. Please stay in touch so we know how you're doing. We love you and we care. Have a wonderful evening. Love and hugs!
That's a really understandable concern, and it's one many people with breast cancer think about. The honest answer is that while treatment aims to eliminate all cancer cells, there is always some possibility that a few cells remain undetected and could become active again later.
That said, "always a chance" doesn't mean Show Full Answer
