I know this is scary!
Something to keep in mind, more biopsies are negative than positive. Worse case scenario, it is positive, most breast cancers are curable, and do not require chemo.
Hoping for a negative biopsy!

How can you manage the anxiety before your biopsy tomorrow?

It's completely understandable to feel scared and anxious right now. A BI-RADS 5 score means the radiologist found something highly suspicious, but the biopsy is needed to know for certain what you're dealing with. Many MyBCTeam members have shared similar feelings of overwhelming anxiety before their biopsies.

The anxiety you're experiencing is very common. Signs like not wanting to leave your house, feeling tense, and having trouble controlling worried thoughts are all normal responses to this stressful situation.

Here are some ways to help manage your anxiety before tomorrow:

- Try breathing exercises or mindfulness practices to help calm your mind
- Consider listening to guided meditation or calming music - studies show this can significantly decrease anxiety during biopsies
- Reach out to someone you trust who can accompany you tomorrow for support
- Remind yourself that getting the biopsy is an important step toward getting answers and a treatment plan
- Allow yourself extra rest and be gentle with yourself

Many members describe the biopsy as more uncomfortable than painful. Your medical team's goal is to get you complete answers as quickly as possible, not to keep you wondering or worrying.

If your anxiety feels unmanageable, don't hesitate to contact your doctor's office today - they may be able to provide additional support or resources to help you through tomorrow.

Hi Nancy- have another ice pack handy for when you get home- I only live about 15-20 minutes from the center, and that little ice pack in the bra, while helpful, doesn't last long. Like rosegardengal said- a bit of bruising and tenderness, but recovery wasn't an issue. I had taken the day off work for it- but was back the next day! The time waiting for results is hard- keeping you in prayers for all good news delivered quickly. (and most of the time lumps are benign). But whatever the outcome, you have us to lean on. Hugs!

The waiting can sometimes be the hardest part, especially early on when you are going through various tests and waiting for appointments, procedures, test results, etc. Ask the doctor to layer the numbing medication at various depths when they inject it since it can make a difference pain wise. They should also give you a little frozen thing you can put in your bra afterwards that helps some with the swelling. You will probably get a bruise and the biopsy spot will be tender, but in my experience recovering from breast biopsies isn't too bad. Good luck with your biopsy tomorrow ❤️
