caught between opinions of my breast Dr./Surgeon and staff of oncology/radiation Dr. How do I know who to trust for my care?

I have newly discovered invasive ductal carcinoma. Stage 1, grade 2, no lymph nodes involved. My Breast Dr. & Surgeon told me that if I chose radiation, I can spread out the treatments to 1x per week, instead of 5 days straight. That i have the choice in all my care. You can always get a second opinion. You also have the right to decline care. That said,
Always a good idea to ask the risk of recurrence with and without treatment.
My radiation was Monday through Friday for 4 weeks.

Thank you. yes, this is what I had researched & found & made the decision as to what I want & how I am treated. I fit all the criteria for weekly treatments instead of daily. My frustration is finding a Radiologist/Oncologist that will work with me. I want the best treatment for my situation & since it is my body, I feel it should be my choice.

Here's what might help:

First, request to speak directly with the radiation oncologist, not just office staff. Staff may be explaining standard protocols, but your specific case might allow for different scheduling options. The actual doctor needs to evaluate your situation and explain what's medically appropriate for your stage 1, grade 2 IDC.

Second, consider getting a second opinion from another radiation oncologist. This can clarify whether alternative radiation schedules are truly available for your diagnosis. Different doctors may have different approaches, and hearing multiple perspectives helps you make informed decisions.

Since your breast surgeon is endorsing the once a week radiation treatment for you, contact his office and ask if he knows any radiation oncologists who will
do this treatment.

Oncology Drs. and breast surgeon’s know each other in the community.

I am hoping that he can help.

You definitely should do what procedures that you want.
