I'm wondering what the rest of you have experienced with Anastrozole? I am seeing changes in my nails besides the joint pain and headache.

* Pain in the nail bed
* Nails lifting from the nail bed
* Tearing and splitting
* Ridges or lines

The good news is these changes are temporary. A MyBCTeam member shared that as your immune system improves, nails should regrow underneath, typically taking about four to six months for toenails to fully regrow.

Joint pain is a well-documented side effect of anastrozole and other aromatase inhibitors. Many members find relief through regular exercise - one member shared they became pain-free after walking 1.5 miles every evening for six months.

If your nail changes are bothersome or you notice any discharge, pain, or signs of infection, it's important to talk with your healthcare team right away to prevent complications.

My nails are slowly getting back to normal since Chemo. I don't think the Anastrozole is affecting them. Sorry you are going through that.

Hi Christine I too am on Anastrozol my nails have returned to normal since chemo. The rippled dents have grown out. I have noticed though that my fingernails are a bit thicker and stronger when I clip them.

I'm sorry you are dealing with that! My nail changes were a side effect of chemo, since I did not have to take the AI's. Hugs!
