I had surgery, then chemo, then radiation for my 2nd round of breast cancer. My doctors had me wait to start Letrozole until after I finished radiation which was the last part of my active treatment. I waited about 45 days after radiation was finished so my body had time to recover a bit more since I was feeling pretty crappy after 6 months of chemo followed by a 6 week break and then 4 weeks of radiation.
I had surgery in late July, no chemo, radiation September-October, and began Takoxifen in early Nov.
NaR, I am on Letrozole. I was advised to wait until radiation therapy was complete before starting it. I guess it all depends on what your treatment plan is.
When should you start taking tamoxifen after a lumpectomy?
The timing of tamoxifen after a lumpectomy depends on your overall treatment plan. For early-stage breast cancer, surgery is typically the first treatment, followed by radiation therapy. If chemotherapy is needed, radiation is given after that finishes.
