I was on Anastrozole and Exemestane; bad side effects. Now on Letrozole; 1 week. Hopefully better. The other 2 began problems at 2-3 months; extreme joint pain felt like torn rotator cuff and constant diarrhea with the other.
I'm on Letrozole and my only side effect so far is hot flashes. I've been told since this is my 2nd estrogen positive breast cancer and it's a very aggressive one this time around that I will need to be on an AI for the rest of my life. If you do end up having too many bad side effects from Letrozole there are several other AIs you can try that may work better for you. Good luck ❤️
On letrozole with no side effects.
Yes, it works for me! Had DCIS Stage 1 right beginning summer. So instead of immediate surgery (lumpectomy/partial masectomy) dr. put me on letrozole as it was beginning of summer and reasons I wanted to be in sun. So I did pill for two months, it actually SHRUNK TUMOR like .1 cm a month, but so slow I thought better get it removed! So did end July. But on letrozole for another 3-1/2 years as never went off it, tho could have during chemo but never did. Sure, have a few aches in cold weather, but is it maybe just old age? (I'm 70). I swear by it, though!
Are you currently taking letrozole or considering it?
Many MyBCTeam members take letrozole (Femara) for hormone receptor-positive breast cancer. It works by reducing estrogen levels in the body, which helps prevent certain cancer cells from growing.
