@A MyBCTeam Member....Good for you, that's great that your doctor is providing you with the appropriate after care! There are too many doctors out there that don't provide the care that the patient needs. I've learned to research everything about my various doctors and health issues after having way too many negative and risky experiences with lazy, smug, uninformed, etc. doctors.
@A MyBCTeam Member that’s what my Dr told me too. I have a uni-lateral mastectomy and was told I will have a mammogram & MRI every 6 months for the first 5 years. Which I am glad as it will help give me peace of mind.
It's my understanding that women who don't have cancer and have dense breast tissue are entitled to have 1 mammogram and 1 MRI each year, alternating between the 2 different test types every 6 months. It seems absolutely ridiculous to me that a breast cancer survivor who still has breasts would only be getting 1 mammogram per year, especially during the 1st 5 years after diagnosis and treatment.
I get mammograms once a year and see my oncologist twice a year. She does a physical exam and bloodwork. Any. concerns, she will order MRI or scans.
Good morning 🌅 DeborahCorleone. My first two mammograms after my lumpectomy in 2023 we're 3 months apart. In 2024 it became every six months with bone density test every year and I also have an ultrasound every year also. It depends on the surgery, risk factors, reconstruction. Please check with your health care team if you feel different about it. Always, always speak so that YOU can have peace of mind.🙏😊🙏
