First of all, it’s ok if every thought and action is about cancer! Really. This is a new “normal” and there’s nothing wrong with accepting it. Actually, I would advise to embrace it! Live it!
That said, if you’re concerned about this, all you need to do is make a decision, even if for one hour a day or a week, to focus on something else. You have the power to do this. If you catch yourself being in it and don’t want it, decide to redirect your attention.

Everyone is different so the amount of time it takes the cancer conversations to stop varies. For some it happens pretty quickly. I really think folks mean well. They just find it difficult to talk to someone with cancer because if you've never had cancer, try as you might, you cannot understand the mental and physical issues we struggle with on a daily basis. Most really do care and mean well. Some are just curious others are just stupid and thoughtless. You gotta love them anyway Eventually, if you smile and give short answers while turning the conversation to something else, they will get the picture. It just takes time. Wishing you the very best. Stay in touch. We love you and we care. Much love and endless hugs!!

I found that just continuing with my normal activities helped me to stop thinking about it constantly. It’s been 1 yr since my surgery and radiation and I hardly ever think about myself having cancer, just get online everyday here to see if I can help offer any advice. I am on Anastrozole now and will be taking it for 5 yrs.
