I had the same response as Kathleen And Laura, my radiation was on the left side, and the radiologist assured me that taking the deep breaths and the targeted beam for the radiation avoids the heart area. And I’ve had no problems. I’m one year out.

I just finished radiation for my left side. Practice holding your breath while laying down with your arms over your head now. It will make it easier during treatment. I often felt like a puffer fish ready to explode 🤣 lol. Sending prayers and best wishes! 🙏❤️

They had me take a big breath and hold it while they radiated. It lifts the breast away from the heart.
6 years and 8 months out of radiation, no problems.
Wishing you well!

@A MyBCTeam Member, I too have felt regret over the choices I made due to lack of knowledge/understanding at the time. I still have times when I wish I could do a mulligan and; I’m three years out.

I am a heart attack survivor. While at the annual Wear Red Day luncheon, helping, I was told that Pink (cancer survivor) to Red was a thing. I too was contemplating the radiation effects over my heart.
