I had 38 rounds of radiation and after a little time I began to feel tired. I wasn't working any more so I just took a nap. I used Aquaphor for my skin at the beginning of radiation treatment and it worked famously. I have no outward scars from radiation at all. I do have scar tissue on the inside of the breast but it"s like scar tissue I would have anywhere else. I've had a biopsy in the area to determine that it's just dense tissue. If you choose to moisturizers or whatever you want to put on your skin apply it liberally. Get some cheap tank tops to wear between your regular clothes and your skin. It will keep the lotions from staining your clothes. God speed to you. Every thing will be alright !!

The first day you may feel very tired. I just felt a little tired and didn't develop redness and peeling until last week of treatment. They gave me lots of creams to try and I like miaderm cream. That one worked the best for me. I started walking when I came home from treatments. Just short walks at first and eat healthy.

I hope you started moisturizing before your 1st treatment. That and staying hydrated really help. Also l went walking every day after my treatment. Rest when you feel tired, it’s important to listen to your body. I only had one spot that turned dark. It didn’t hurt it later peeled and went away, so I really think the moisturizing and hydration really helped to prevent any bad burns. Good luck 😘🙏

I agree with FelishiaMiracleChild, get cheap tank tops to wear! I got soft, cotton tanks that did not irritate my skin plus it didn't matter if they got a little stained or greasy from the Aquaphor. After treatments, they did come completely clean! Aquaphor kept me from burning, although I did get irritated and used hydrocortisone cream. It's been almost three months since my 20 rounds ended, and I have some lymphedema in my chest, underarm, and back. PT has been amazing and also helps with scar tissue as well as whatever internal adhesions the radiation caused. I did not realize how tight my chest and side were, and I had been doing some stretches. I think compression bras will be my friends for quite some time, but it is much better and I feel better. If you are feeling like something is still not right after radiation, do not be afraid to let your doctors or PA's know. I wish I had a month sooner, but thought it would get better on it's own. I had a lumpectomy in June and radiation August-Sept.
