I used Herceptin for a year and just finished my last treatment with it on Sep 4th...the first infusion was dreadful, I felt like I got hit by a flu bus in a matter of hours and went to bed thinking "what have I done to myself ad there's no way I can do this for a year" - by 4am in the morning it was like a switch flipped and I felt amazingly normal again. For the next 4 months I was taking chemo at the same time as the Herceptin so couldn't tell what part of the side effects were the chemo vs the Herceptin but as of January I've only been on the Herceptin so was again able to tell it was the Herceptin causing nausea all day on the day I was infused (my oncologist said this was not a usual side effect) - I also had extreme fatigue and am just now starting to get over that. For me, the side effects were not enough to stop taking the Herceptin. I also have heart disease (CAD) but had routine Echo's and everything stayed within normal limits. Hope this helps!
