I've been doing some heavy research on the AIs and CDK inhibitors since I meet with the cardiologist and the oncologist on Friday and need to decide which ones I should take. All of the AIs and CDK inhibitors can cause hair loss. I made a list of all the side effects of these 6 different meds and am in the middle of making a chart showing each side effect and each medication so I can compare everything in one glance instead of shuffling through a pile of paperwork. Like most of us I have a few other medical issues and want to pick the meds that will be the safest for me to take, which in reality is none of them. I need to take an AI since my new cancer is aggressive, but the CDK inhibitors and their side effects are downright scary. I've learned not to count on doctors when it comes to drugs and side effects since they just tell you the basics which are not necessarily what you need to know based on your own personal health issues. In my opinion until you go through cancer yourself with all the treatments, surgeries, and drugs you are fairly clueless to the realities of what a cancer patient deals with on a daily basis for the rest of their life.

Sounds like your experience is similar to mine - docs have not been forthcoming with info, then they claim that published info (clinical tests and patient testimonies) is false. So frustrating!

Yes, I hear you and agree.
I have experienced the same with hair loss and other significant side effects from Aromatase Inhibitor drugs. I have been on Anastrozole and then switched to Letrozole. I have been taking them for 4 years, since 2021.

3. Vaginal Dryness, pain, vaginal atrophy: Coconut Oil External and Internally to labia, etc. Revaree Vaginal Suppositories, Estrogen Vaginal Suppositories- Yes, approved by my Medical Oncologist, Sexual Medicine MD, OBGYN. All made a HUGE difference and my QUALITY of LIFE is back.

Hair loss- In the last 4 months all of a sudden my hair has started to grow back! I just had my hair cut and you can see the new hair growth and my hair actually grew 3 inches in the last 4 months! So? Not sure why that has happened.

Just sharing from my experience.

You could possibly have hair loss. I did, even though I was told it was rare. Only sharing cause I felt no one was very upfront about it. I stopped taking it for that very reason, and my hair did not come back. And of course, it was right in the front, on top of the head. Why couldn't it be in the back. Same for Letrazole. I'm on Exemestane, and the hair loss is even worse. But I can't stop taking the Exemestane this time, I am now metastatic. :(

Keep pushing for answers, suggestions, from the oncology team. Maybe dosage can be adjusted, or perhaps try the same drug from a different manufacturer- I agree with SKnight- the medical professionals should never be dismissive of symptoms you are experiencing. If they would listen, they would realize how common the side effects are and how they are impacting quality of life. Not being able to get consistent, restorative sleep is a big concern. Hugs!
