And doctors are at the mercy of insurance companies as well. They hate when they need to have to write an order to get insurance to cover costs.

Hey @A MyBCTeam Member I just wasn’t sure if you knew women who were not stage 4 don’t get scans done frequently like we do . I think every woman with this diagnosis should be able to get a scan every 4 months

I Totally Agree!! You are right! Barbara, scans for diagnosis would be much less expensive for insurance companies than treating cancer! I think the pharmaceutical companies have a vested interest in treating cancer because of the amount of money they make from chemotherapy drugs.
As an old RN, and as we all know the earlier it’s diagnosed the better.
This country seriously needs to make changes to the health care system. Insurance companies call the shots! It should not be this way.

Demand a Signatera test. This is a blood test to show if cancer comes back. I have one done every three month. How long ago did you have a double mastectomy? If recent they can send a tumor sample to natera lab and build a profile from your tumor type, if you have a reoccurrence it will show up in your blood. Simple and noninvasive. Good Luck!

Glow UCLA is a great hospital but doctors are all the same. If you don't ask they don't test. Like Barbara said it takes time for these doctors to "word it" and they really don't have the time to fight with insurance companies. We are all just another number. I have great insurance and still had to fight for a scan. Upsetting to say the least!!
