I’m very concerned. I developed blood clots from my chemo port, and it’s scheduled to be removed tomorrow. I’m unsure how blood will be drawn moving forward, especially since one arm is swollen and I had a mastectomy on the other. When can I expect the swelling to go down? I didn’t have any lymph nodes removed in the swollen arm—only the chemo port was placed there. The swelling began immediately after the port was inserted.

Thank you all so much for your advice and support. I’m back home and healing. They used my chemo port to draw blood, and I didn’t need to be sedated for the removal just numbing, which wasn’t too bad. There was a little burning, and it’s quite sore now.
Next, I’ll be going back to the office to discuss the upcoming shot and the medication the oncologist will prescribe. I’m trusting God that my swollen arm will go down and that the blood clots will resolve. I really hope I won’t have to stay on blood thinners much longer, as I’ve been bruising easily.
They also took my blood pressure from my leg.

Some nurses and doctors offices are trained in doing a blood draw from
the leg. Inquire about that. 💜
