A yearly mammogram is not enough screening no matter what a doctor says. If you have had cancer more monitoring is needed. Demand it.

Demand more than a yearly mammogram. Get something done at least every 6 months like an ultrasound. I think women should have extensive imaging every 4 months once a breast cancer diagnosis happens but insurance will probably not pay for that. It is better to find a recurrence and be stage 2 than to ignore testing and wind up being stage 4.

NED does sound more realistic meaning at that time after treatment NED is found in found in the body. I think it probably doesn't make women feel as secure as if telling them they 'cured' only to find out years later it came back. NED would tell the woman the treatment worked, right now there is no evidence of cancer in your body and then she can move on, get tested and scans whenever to keep it in check.
I would say once cancer strikes, a woman has to continue to get check for the rest of her life. Women might not like to hear that but this is the only way to find a recurrence early. If a woman thinks she can go through all the treatments and then move on like its over, that is foolish. Like diabetes, heart and lung problems, blood pressure problems, this is chronic and has to be kept in check forever.
