There are several ways to help prevent seromas from refilling:

• Wear compression garments like an Ace bandage wrap to help your body absorb the fluid
• Follow your doctor's guidelines about limiting arm and shoulder movements
• Avoid small repetitive movements like dusting or sweeping
• Take regular breaks from sitting to move around
• Don't lift objects above the recommended weight limit given by your care team If the seroma persists despite these preventive measures, your doctor may recommend:

• Reinserting drainage tubes
• Needle drainage if it's causing pain or limiting movement
• Sclerotherapy - injecting a chemical to seal leaking vessels
• Surgery in some cases to drain fluid and prevent recurrence

Many seromas will eventually resolve on their own within a month, though some may take up to a year to fully absorb.
