What is a seroma?
A seroma is a pocket of clear fluid that collects under the skin after breast cancer surgery. It typically appears within a week to a week and a half after a lumpectomy or mastectomy.
You might notice swelling or a feeling like there's fluid moving under your skin. Some MyBCTeam members describe it as Show Full Answer
According to the nurse practitioner (I talked to her by phone so she didn't actually see it), it was not a seroma, and a hematoma instead.
Three days later it was pretty ok. Still swollen, but no pain or other effects.
Just my armpit burns almost all the time.
Hi Hanna,
I had a seroma develop where the lymph nodes were removed. I was wrapped up tight with an ace bandage for a few weeks. I also had to go in 5 times to have it drained.
My recent ultrasound shows a 2 cm. Seroma at the surgical sight in my breast. My oncologist recommended Yoga to help with the lymph edema as well. I pray your's doesn't get as bad as mine was. 🤗🙏🩷
@A MyBCTeam Member I had this happen to me. I had just bought grounding sheets and used them for the first time and that morning woke up with a hard swelled up breast on the breast cancer side only. It was also very hot to the touch. Needless to say I removed the new grounding sheets and within 3 days the swelling went away. I have had my signatera test since then so I know it was not inflammatory BC. Praise the Lord!!
