I have been on Letrizole for 15 months. The first six months I had
terrible bone pain in my neck and shoulders, back and legs. I was about
ready to stop taking it when it got better. I still have some episodes of
pain always accompanied by headaches, but it is now tolerable. I have quit
sleeping with a pillow because that seems to aggravate my neck and
shoulders. I’ve had an increase in facial hair and thinning of my head
hair - go figure 😳. I’ve had skin issues also. Dry skin all over my body
with itching and some patches of scaly skin. I have so many things going on
with my body that it’s hard to determine what is caused by the Letrizole
and what is caused by other issues - like other medical issues I have and
medications I take. I guess the hardest side effect is the tiredness. I
have no stamina, weakness and I sleep a lot. I’m having to use a cane now,
mostly for security. I have fallen several times and very fortunate not to
have broken anything.
I have been in the hospital twice in the last six months. They determined
I had an acute pancreatic attack caused by medications. They took me off
of some meds and changed others. I haven’t had any further problems with
that. I recently had symptoms of a heart attack and went to the ER. They
ran a medley of tests and said my heart was fine and they didn’t know what
caused the symptoms. I went to my heart Doctor who reviewed all the test
results and said my heart is healthy. He said it sounded more like a
gastric intestinal problem and recommended I see a gastroenterologist. I
did and now I’m scheduled to have an endoscopy and colonoscopy. Not looking
forward to that bit of medical diagnostic!

I just feel fortunate that we found my breast cancer early with no lymph
node involvement. Living one day at a time and doing things I love, when
able, with the people I love. ❤️

Sweet @A MyBCTeam Member I think now that your scans are over with and you know you are in the clear with that, it will be easier for you to take the necessary steps and fix your pelvic region issue. Its amazing how a good report can clear the mind of worry so we can focus on other things. ❤️

I started on Exemestane May 2024 after prior bilateral mastectomies. Side effects fatigue, joint pain and stiffness, fairly manageable hot flashes. Oncologist switched me to Tamoxifen, surprisingly, when he questioned me about side effects after six months. Once I researched Tamoxifen I asked to be switched back to Exemestane. Now starting my second year on AI and decided I want to address lack of stamina so I can get back to better quality of life. Also, having mentioned my increasing weight several times to various doctors was told I was not obese so don’t worry about it . But having been on the slim/average size most of my life I have been trying very hard to lose 10-12 pounds. It’s soooooo slow going, even eating healthy and tracking my foods.
Then today I read an article indicating that weight gain and/or difficulty in losing weight can be another wonderful side effect of these drugs!
Isn’t constant fatigue, menopause symptoms, risk of osteoarthritis, etc., etc.,enough?
Yes, yes, I know it’s keeping me alive and I should be grateful for that but some days!

Thank God. Almost a year on letrozole for me

I’m on exemestane. The worst side affect I’ve had so far is very mild and occasional hot flashes. Also, my liver enzymes went totally through the roof! I’m not sure if it was the meds or something else - still in investigation for that.
