Take a friend along with you so they can write down what your doctor says. There's no way you're going to remember everything he/she says. It's a Lot of information to absorb at one time. That way you can go back and read it for future reference. 🤓🗒🖊👍 Recording it on your phone is another way to get and save your information.

Here are key questions to ask at your first oncologist appointment:

- What type of breast cancer do I have and what stage is it?
- Has the cancer spread to other parts of my body?
- What's my prognosis?
- What treatment options are available and what are the benefits and risks of each?
- Should I consider participating in any clinical trials?
- What are the next steps in my treatment plan? Pro tip: Write your questions down before the appointment and leave space to write the answers. Consider bringing a trusted friend or family member who can take notes while you focus on the conversation. Most doctors will allow you to record the conversation on your phone if you ask - this can be really helpful for reviewing the information later.

Remember, there's no such thing as a silly question. Your oncologist is there to help you understand and make informed decisions about your care. If anything isn't clear, keep asking until you fully understand.

I recommend that you also get support from an oncology dietitian, because some doctors may not provide detailed information about nutrition.

Definitely ask if there will be a nurse navigator or patient advocate assigned to your case. They are a great resource for getting questions answered between doctor visits- and peace of mind is a big help while going through this! Hugs!
