Yes, please check into the mittens and socks! Anything that can prevent or lessen the possibility of neuropathy is worth following through on. My oncologist never mentioned them, I wish he had, as the neuropathy was very painful. Avoid it if you can! Hugs!
You will lose your hair with Taxol, about 3 weeks into treatment. I have a few patients cod cap with it, and done quite well with hair loss. I am told there are face book groups on it. Might find more info there.
Wishing you well.
My chemo was Taxotere, Carboplatin and Herceptin (TCH) on a 3 week cycle. My hair started leaving on vacation after the second chemo session. Once the 6 sessions were done, I moved to infusions of Herceptin only. During that time, my hair started coming back. So, I believe Taxotere was more responsible for the temporary baldness than the Herceptin. While the hair did come back, it did not come back as thick as prior treatment. But after bald, there is no such thing as a bad hair day!!
Thank you so much💕
My Oncologist started me out with “light treatment” (her word) which only meant longer drip time initially with Taxol/Herceptin and building to shorter drip time. I didn’t start seeing a significant loss of hair with the Taxol until after round 3 (I just completed round 4). The soreness of my scalp for the past several weeks has been borderline painful. I’ve already planned to have it shaved off within the next two weeks so I’m hoping that may help some with the soreness. I’ve heard about the cold caps but decided not to try it since I know the Alopecia will be temporary but it may be something you might want to try given the timing of your daughter’s wedding. Wishing you the best of luck and hugs! 🩷
