This is how my radiologist worded the two lesions that got radiated.
Disease progression with new metastatic lytic lesion involving the L5 vertebra measuring up to 1.7 cm without pathologic fracture. Otherwise the sternal and left iliac bone metastatic lesions appear stable without pathologic fracture. No additional new sites of metastatic disease.
From our scans they know what was there before and how was treated so whenever we get scans those places can still be seen, not sure if they would show up as FDG Avid on PET scans or not.
@A MyBCTeam Member, have you inquired about a scan? Since you had mastectomy that means no more mammograms and I read your story and see if that you are on Anastrozole, but I feel you should be able to have something done to check. I don't understand too much about women in your situation with earlier stages and how doctors keep you in check.
How often do u have scans in have never had 1! Had mastectomy 21/2 years ago
There have been cases when one has chemo, or gamma knife for brain Mets, spots can be visible, but is is necrosis of the tumor, dead tumor remains.
When I got scans after having two different lesions radiated they show up as stable. Not growing. And new bone has replaced the loss the cancer caused.
