My blood tests show high levels of vitamin D so my onco tells me to take half. I’m looking for calcium supplements only but most come with vitamin D.. now I’m wondering, if I’m high on vitamin D, am I also high on calcium too? How do I know if I have too much calcium?

There are plenty of calcium only supplements. And yes I agree always consult your doctor and the only way you will know your level is to check your labs

My PCP also has me bring in the bottles for any supplements, so she can make sure that they are necessary, and if necessary that they are the best for absorbtion, etc., that nothing is working against another item, and that the dosages, timing of taking it- it all in the best place for me to benefit. I have two items that we added when the panel showed I was low, the next go round, they were both two high, so same dosage but only twice a week keeps things in the right range.

My doctor added Xgeva and vit D, and calcium. She also just added potassium and magnesium because those were low. This should all be on a routine chemistry panel. My doctor runs them monthly.

I stopped taking vitamin D3 for about 3 weeks and only taking 250 of calcium for now. I found out my multivitamin has 4 times the vitamin D3 that my onco recommended.. who knew?
I'm planning to take the multivitamin every 4 days for vitamin D and the calcium 1,000 everyday starting next week and see how my blood test is in 3 months or so.. cross my fingers this works.. 🥴 goodness, this is never ending.
My onco tells me that she told me to take vitamin D and Calcium to "protect" me...
I asked my PCP about K3 and he said it was unnecessary.. SMH...
