I have been taken Anastrozole almost a year and I am so thankful I'm not having all the side affects as others. Just remember every body is different and will treat everyone different.

I was really really afraid to take Anastrozole at first and was expecting all kinds of side effects. Thankfully my side effects were absolutely manageable . I have been on it since March or April 2023.

Please don't be afraid. Around 60% of people who take them do not have serious issues with them. Five women in my church have had breast cancer and are on aromatase inhibitors and none of us are having issues. I do have hot flashes but that is to be expected. After nine months on Anastrozole, I've had some insomnia. It takes me a while to go to sleep but I'm retired so I can sleep later in the morning. I take Gabapentin for arthritis in my spine so I take 300 mg. at night along with two Tylenol PMs (thanks for the info Barbara66) and that isn't a big problem anymore. If you fall into the 40% category of those who have problems, then ask your oncologist to try a different AI or ask for help in managing any side effects. Even my hot flashes have lessened after nine months on the AIs. We have a tower fan in our bedroom and I sleep with the remote control under my pillow. If I have a hot flash at night, I just turn the fan on for two minutes and when the flash is over, I turn it back off.
