Yes, definitely explore your rights. I would have thought this would be a job discrimination due to a health issue and another job could have been found for you, especially as part of a union.

I hope this gives you the time and space to find something else, somewhere where you and your time, are appreciated and supported- as well as brings you satisfaction for your efforts!! Hugs!

Joy4 I hear you. Sounds like you are making peace with your decision and now you're moving forward.
This is a let down from so many after a career position and then a change of positions to something new after a major illness with lasting impacting remnants on your health-brain fog+. The lack of understanding and truly listening to you as the patient by your medical team is just confusing but not new unfortunately. The employer position is not surprising nor is the unions either. This world has become an ugly place at times.
Now, you are in control of the future and next steps you take, and they are gone. Sending positive vibes your way!

💖Thank you all so much for your support. My union was not very helpful. The union did offer to start a grievance. This would mean the package deal would be gone, and my benefits would not continue. I felt that I couldn't fight this one for years (which it would go on for). I chose to take the package and retire now. My employer treated me as if it was my fault that I could not learn a new position and had this brain fog. My doctors didn't help either. I likely went back to work too early, but my pay would have been cut off entirely by the time I left, and I couldn't manage without a salary.

So sorry to hear this Joy4
You have been through so much and then have to turn around and try and fight for your job in a non-supportive environment sounds like just too much. Good to hear that you were given a package deal and benefits for a year to get you to your next place. Now you have time to plan for what's next. Sending positive vibes your way!
