Has anyone else had this treatment?
Good work Sherrie . I take 600 D with calcium prescribed by my doctor and eat a few foods rich in D . I am not as concerned about bone loss as I will most likely be gone before the severe affects of Anastrozole but I will keep doing what I have been doing until. 🎄
LIke Barbara I chose not to get the Reclast (Zoledronic acid) infusion. I had breast cancer and am taking Arimidex which can affect bone density. I started it Feb 2023. My baseline Dec 2022 bone scan results were that I am at 117 BMU and normal is 120 BMU. Had my bone density scan indicated that my bones were in worse shape, then I may have made a different decision. My oncologist said that he would support my decision as long as I committed to these things: take 1200 mg of calcium a day plus 50 mcg of vitamin D a day. Vitamin D is needed to help calcium be absorbed. He also said to do weight bearing exercise every day (like walking, running, dancing) He suggested to wear ankle weights when exercising. I wear 1.5 pound weights on each ankle and walk 35 - 40 minutes EVERY DAY. We will do another bone scan in Dec 2024 to see how my bones are holding up.
So I would get the results of a bone scan and discuss those results with the Dr.
Compare those results to the possible side effects of getting the infusion.

No @A MyBCTeam Member is correct. It protects your bones from the AI’s
I was told it can be used for both bone strengthening & as part as an anti cancer treatment to prevent breast cancer from coming back.
