Thank you Marita. When you ask why radiation 5 days a week vs 3 days, you get that’s the way we always do it. I have a family and a job, plus felt if 3 days a week, maybe your skin would have a better chance of avoiding the kind of damage they talk about.
Don’t seem to be a lot of new ideas out there.

Hi Barbara, I never contemplated a mastectomy, always knew I would only have a lumpectomy. Went very well, had mastopexy on other breast at the same time. The radiation piece was the harder decision but always knew I would not take AI medication. Started radiation with reluctance last week. Just realized they are also doing a CT scan before each treatment which I don’t understand. Already concerned about too much radiation and now they are adding to my stress. Of course my dr already left for the Thanksgiving holiday, so my concerns not addressed.
I realize I give my real estate clients more attention then the health care system gives their patients.
Good luck with your decision. I loved my surgeon, but can’t say the same for the radiation piece.

@A MyBCTeam Member I struggled so much with the decision of lumpectomy vs mastectomy. I went back and forth a million times. It was honestly the most stressful part of this whole journey. Wishing you clarity and peace in your decision making. It will get less stressful once you finally decide, so don’t be hard on yourself in the process. 💕

I too am very anti radiation. I finish last chemo treatment Nov 29 and the plan was lumpectomy however now I am having second thought because that means radiation for five weeks. Both the oncologist and my surgeon told me if I do not want the radiation then mastectomy is my only other option. I am feeling very conflicted and lots of regret in my treatment decisions.
