Mom is Triple Positive, meaning her cancer is driven by two different hormone receptors (Estrogen and Progesterone)- the Anastrozole is meant to counter those two.

The third positive is HER2+, which is a protein receptor. The Trazimera is a drug developed (biosimilar) to Herceptin. That is a targeted drug for HER2+

The third drug- Reclast, has been included to counter bone loss.

There are a lot of other drugs that could have been added to the cocktail. I am HER 2+, and mine consisted of 3 drugs just for that. It sounds like they are trying to limit the number of drugs going into her system, and have chosen the best answer for each of the three receptors, and the most concerning side effect.

You can always arrange for another physician to provide a second opinion, and that may help you feel better about the protocols. Hugs to you for looking out for mom!

My PCP is an integrated health physician, so she is very much into looking at what we can do to improve our health through diet, exercise, meditation, etc. as well as utilizing conventional medicines. Before I started chemo, she ran a nutrition panel to make sure I was in the healthiest place possible to take on these treatments. She had some suggestions, and had me run them past the oncology team to make sure everyone was on board. But she totally supported the chemo decisions suggested by the oncology team.

I also got a copy of the book, Breasts: The Owner's Manual by Dr. Kristi Funk. There is a lot of good nutritional info in there, including a chart that shows the foods you want to incorporate into your diet, how much, and WHY that particular food is beneficial. I got the book from the library, found it helpful, then got a used copy on Ebay. Hugs to you and mom as you navigate these challenges!
