I decided to have the lumpectomy and lymph node biopsy done and go through the radiation treatment first. I have 2 main reasons for my decision. First, I am already scheduled to have the surgery on 8/30 and if I decided on the oncoplastic reduction, I don't think I have enough time to see the cosmetic surgeon before and would have to reschedule my lumpectomy and biopsy. My general surgeon is booked until Oct. She just happened to have a cancelation because the other patient couldn't get cleared to have surgery. I really don't want to have this in me until Oct. The other main reason is that as I have mentioned in other posts, I have DDDs and am hoping that she doesn't have to take a large amount of tissue out and it won't be very noticeable. 🤞🏼
If it is a big chunk, then I will go back after radiation treatments and I have healed.

Thanks JoAnn, I feel the same way, I have a friend who thinks I should heal first then reconstruct. I don't agree.

I had a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction all in the same surgery. Worked well for me.

I did those surgeries concurrently and had great results so far just finished radiation things still look symmetrical; my thoughts why drag it on any longer than I have to. Best wishes I hope you make the best decision for you. PS I did heal fast and I was back to work in 16 days.
