Did anyone have problems with their mouth burning and stinging during and after chemo? I had a lot of problems during chemo where I got sores in my mouth. I thought after chemo that would be the end of it. But no it wasn't. I am going through radiation now and my mouth is just as bad if not worse. Everything I eat burns my mouth or stings it. My dentist (alsoMD) gave me recipe for a rinse:
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt
1 cup water
I used it closer to treatment and still 3 years later when I get a sore. Like eating chips that I know are a trigger. Hope this helps.🤗
Use caution with magic mouthwash, full of steroids. I took it due to my throat closing from rads. I had -0- feelings, I worried about choaking.
That's the recipe I used as well, provided by the NP at the oncology center. I was told that should the mouth sores, etc. show up, there was a prescription mouthwash (several pink sisters here swear by the Magic Mouthwash), but fortunately, it was not an issue for me. Good luck!
Melana, they did give me something for the mouth sores. In fact I ended up with 2 different medicines because I developed thrush. I hope you didn't end up with thrush.
Yes, my Oncologist prescribed Nystatin for me. Worked great!
