My Oncologist has me on Venlafaxine for the heat flashes and night sweats, but the 37.5mg wasn't doing much so I have increased to 75mg. It helps.
I was put on Oxybutynin and had horrible heartburn and pretty severe ankle swelling as well as constipation and was quickly taken off of that, so be careful if you end up being put on that. I’m still looking for good alternatives for hot flashes now that those meds didn’t work for me.
My oncologist prescribed Oxybutynin for hot flashes and night sweats. I was already on Cymbalta, so the side effects of the estrogen blockers are better. I still have a few breakthrough flashes, but they are short lived.
Hope this helps.
Cymbalta (antidepressants) were helpful for me. My GP prescribed them for hot flashes and they worked. My oncologist didn't mention any useful solutions. Of course they have other side effects but they were not anywhere as bad as the hot flashes.
Even with air conditioning I keep a floor fan near my bed that helps. I also keep a thermos of ice water near my bed a few sips help.
