Hello Guys,

I will have my pre-planning this 21st for my radiation treatments. I will do photon therapy and need to hold my breath to protect my heart.
My radiation will be on my left breast, I had lumpectomy last October 2022. Then did a 12 week of chemotherapy of Taxol and Herceptin. And now doing the Herceptin only until November 2023.

I am looking for helpful tips based on your experiences. I am kinda anxious.

Praying that God will bless all my upcoming radiation treatments and… read more

I had to hold my breath also for 31 sessions. I had cancer in both breasts, so the sessions lasted longer than most as radiation was to both sides of my chest. I had to hold my breath 9-11 times. It went fine. I found that I did better when I took some deep breaths and held them on the way to the appointment. My prayer was the same as yours. My treatments went as expected - no worse. I wrote Isaiah 43:2 in the palm of my hand as a reminder of Godś promise to be with us always.

Mine was on the right side too. 15 treatments.also had a lumpectomy. Once your breast turns pink, put nonstick gauze pads in your bra. You can secure them with paper surgical tape. There will be breaks in the skin, so if your bra rubs like mine did there could be a little bit of bleeding. You may feel a burning sensation. Aloe Vera gel is cooling. When this peels, it won't be as dramatic as a sunburn. As this area heals, it may feel itchy. You can use otc hydrocortisone cream. This will help. Shooting pains in that area are supposed to go away after 6 months post surgery. Best to you.🙂

I had the right side so I didn’t have to hold breath. Hang in there you will do great. The anxious feeling is normal. You got this 🫶
