Single Or Double Masectomy
I had an original tumor of 2.5cm. Through MRIs and a third biopsy I found out I have another 5 tiny (.5mm or so) ones in the same breast. My other one is completely clear.
My surgeon highly recommends a single masectomy and a lift bc of the numerous ones in there already and even thou I am having chemo to shrink them or make them dissappear she won't change her mind on her recommendation. That being said...
First of all I am getting a second and third surgeon opinion from my chemo hospital.
… read moreI am touching and agreeing with you with God all things are possible! I am seventy-one have been healthy most of my life until diagnosed with breast cancer Dec. of 2022! Patricia- I wear an ID bracelet, I first ordered one through TLC but I did not care for the corners on it, I worried they might scratch one of the kiddos I work with, as I have to lift her several times daily. I ordered my second one, with rounded corners from another company, and at the same time ordered a metal id adhesive plate that I mounted on my phone case. My phone case is more like a wallet, so a debit card, etc. is inside. When I pull my phone from my pocket, I have often been asked about that plate as people have not seen anything like it before. I had previously ordered a children's ID bracelet for my grandson who has food allergies and an epi-pen. We have been very pleased with all three items. They always seems to have some sort of promo going, which is nice too.

I had single mastectomy with lympnode dissection. The drains were ok with a recovery time of about 4 weeks, 10 days with drains and free of them thereafter.
Walking helped a lot because that actually helped with preventing lymphoedema. Depending with the type, single mastectomy may be ok, All the best
I had a similar diagnosis. My breast surgeon recommended a single mastectomy. My own intuition told me to opt for a double. I chose a bilateral mastectomy. My surgery was October 3rd, 2022. You need to do what you feel is best for you.
My overall experience was the most difficult part was the drains and no exercising for 5-6 weeks. I honestly expected things to be much worse. After the 24 hour stay in the hospital I only needed Tylenol for pain. My pain was not too bad at all. I did not have too much swelling. I will say the tissue expanders are a manageable bother. I am trying to decide what size I want to be. I am looking forward to the exchange surgery in the future.
My best advice for after surgery, get up and move around! Follow doctor restrictions, and know things get better with everyday!
Personally, I did my research and went with what was best for me.
Good luck!
Hi Pastor Audrey:
Your post is so encouraging. I’m so happy that you are “cancer free”! 🙌🙌🙌 I love that your best doctor is “Dr. Jesus”. Yes, He is the ultimate healer 👏👏🙌 I totally agree with you he gives the toughest battles to the strongest warriors. I’ve asked myself often why He allowed for me to get Cancer but I have also seeing his goodness, provision, and his faithfulness. I haven’t been told that I’m “cancer free”. However, I’ve had 4 surgeries biopsies, mastectomy and now I’m healing from reconstruction surgery. I believe that He has healed me. I’m also taking the pills that stop estrogen so cancer will not come back. I’m taking life one day at at time. All we are promised is the present, today 👏👏 I work at an Elementary school part time and that is a huge blessing and distraction. So I keep busy making my focus to be a blessing, take care of my family and growing in my faith. Thank you for listening and sharing your story. 🙏🏻🤗
