Well My Fellow “ WARRIORS” How Are You Today?
You will be so glad for your port! Small operation to put it in, heals in a couple of days. When it's time for chemo, or anything else you need an IV access for like CT scans, etc., you put a dab of lidocaine cream on it an hour before you go and all you feel is a little pressure when they access it! Easy peasy! And I don't know about your case, but my tumor was pretty large, so I had chemo first to try ot shrink it down so it would be easier to remove. If you don't understand something you team is planning for you, please feel free to ask them for an explanation. If they're the right team for you, they'll tell you anything you need to know to feel ok with your treatment.
I am convinced that there are medicinal uses for ice cream!!
How are my beautiful bc sisters doing????? I need retail therapy today..
Hi Lisa, please try not to be terrified. I had the port in my chest and it was so much better than in my arm. I developed a blood clot in my arm, hence why they fitted it in my chest. The procedure isn’t painful or anything, honestly. Afterwards I said to myself, why did I get myself in a state. Very straightforward. I called it my “Wiggly”. Herceptin injection I had in the thigh muscle. Yes that does really sting for a minute only, as it has to be released slowly into the muscle. Get them to rub some anaesthetic cream on the area beforehand to numb it . Give cell meditation a go as I found it so useful. You’ll find plenty of apps on the internet and just lie there listening and relaxing to them. Remember, sooner you start the chemo the sooner your treatment will be completed. It’s fear of the unknown and we all handle the situation differently. There’s no right or wrong way, just a bit easier if you have a positive mental attitude. I used to keep telling myself, I want this bloody beast out of me and that gave me strength to embrace every step of the journey. I promise you will be fine. We’re all with you by your side. They usually give you an anti sickness injection before treatment. The scans I used to see as an opportunity to sleep for a few minutes! I found that the chemo didn’t kick in and effect me until 3/4 days after my chemo. Just go with your body, rest and drink plenty, that’s important. Please let us now how it goes. 🤗🌻
Aweee that’s awesome! So glad ur in a good place in ur life. So important to realize how beautiful life is
