Virginia Valley's advice is right on. My last of 6 treatments of Taxotere, Carboplatin, Herceptin & Perjeta was early February. Surgery end of March. Radiation and infusions of Herceptin/Emtansine started end of April. Hair is growing, slowly. 1/2 inch by July. I was stage 2b, triple positive, left breast and axilla lymph nodes. I'm feeling better than I ever thought I would.

Had herceptin with taxol and after taxol for additional 6 months. Lost hair to taxol, hair regrowth started when I was on herceptin only. Now have very thick hair but see it thinning to use of exemestane. Hope this helps?

The scalp felt better after I buzzed off the hair, and even better when the leftover fuzzies came out. A couple of months later I thought I felt something happening, and then for sure a few weeks after that! I get poison ivy really bad if I am not careful- so at the first sign of itchies I go with benedryl. It makes me sleepy, but it's a great way to make sure the itchies don't keep you up at night. Good luck investigating the new protocols, I'll be interested to hear what you find, and your oncology's team's view of it! Hugs!

The two drugs have different purposes, Phesgo is supposed to make it easier for the Herceptin/Perjeta drugs to block the messages to the HER2+ receptors that tell those cells to divide and multiply.

How many treatments before you go just to the Herceptin? I wasn't crazy about losing my hair- but I went and had it cut/donated and had a short style. Because I had hair, it was easy to match the color for a wig. When I had my second treatment and my scalp felt sunburned, I went back and had it buzzed off.

So many people didn't realize I had a wig- a bus driver got aggravated because she wanted to know the stylist that did my hair-two days in a row, she asked while the kids were unloading- and I just said, Believe me- you don't want to go there! On the third day, she said she couldn't understand why I didn't like the cut- so I waited until the last kiddo was out of ear shot, and told her it was because it was a wig, I was bald as an egg under there. Of course, she was red as a beet, and apologizing- I told her it made my day, because we all know how obvious a bad wig can be. It was wintertime, if I had to do it in Virginia's summer heat and humidity I might have considered the hat with the hair attached- probably lighter and cooler.

This might take your hair- but I bet you can count on more things it can't take from you! All the things that make you the incredible person that you are!

You deserve every chance at a happy, healthy life. Please don't let the temporary loss of hair prevent you from getting your best shot at that. One day, you will reach up there and feel the fuzzies coming back- it's like Christmas morning! Then you get to play with different styles etc, as it changes length. And then one day, you will realize how far you have come- and it won't be your hair that you are proudest of- it will be your bravery, your strength, your ability to still smile in spite of what bc had thrown at you! Tight hugs- and remember that Christopher Robin was one smart kid!

Benadryl never thought of that at night because I'm not getting any sleep only a couple of hours then I wake up scratching and I get up to put cream on. The name of that new drug is Abemaciclib 56 150mg tablets and the injection that goes with it Fulvestrant this is after surgery not sure if it goes as a combination with herceptin and if my memory serves me right it's for HER2. I'm seeing my oncologist Monday I'll try to find out more and let you know. You know what they're like with new drugs they're not always forthcoming with information!! Xx
