The expanders were not comfortable but it’s tolerable and temporary.

I had a double mastectomy in January then reconstruction in October. Second surgery was a breeze compared to the first.

I thought the expanders were ok. They were a little hard but not painful. You will be a little sore each time you go in for an expansion could not sleep on my side or stomach with them. I just had mine removed for implants. They are definitely softer.

Thank you for asking the question and for all the responses. I had 2 extremely painful lumpectomies in my right breast 4 mm from the chest wall 5 days apart, and now have to have a double mastectomy in roughly 2 weeks where they will put expanders in. I've been blocking out people's stories, etc because everyone is slightly different on case and pain level, but decided to see I might possibly be in for - it's nice to know not everyone has a horror story with the mastectomy and expanders and/or implants. It helps.

Milissa - is it TE you are getting out? I got mine three weeks ago, and they are super uncomfortable. I also had lat flap on the left side.
