Been on Anastrazole (the generic of Arimidex) for 4 years and 4 months now
I'm suffering from all kinds of joint pain, insomnia, dry (VERY dry) skin, etc. Thankfully the hot flashes have abated from 5 - 10 a day to 5 - 10 a week.
So - for those of you who have finished the 5-year treatment - is there light at the end of the tunnel? I don't expect to go back to "before cancer normal" BUT do the side effects lessen somewhat (especially the joint pain?) after you stop taking these ^&%$^&% pills.

I just passed my 5 year " cancer free" Mark been on anastrozole for 5..now we wants me on for 5 more.... I hurt from hair to toenail... Joints , skin, now my teeth implants have started to fall out. I only take 3 meds
.. Anastrozole, topiramate..(for migraines) and pravastatin ..(for high cholesterol). .. I'm not sure if I want to continue taking Anastrozole another 5 years if it's gonna keep making me feel this way.

i tried Anastrozole and Tamoxifen - joint with both so i said NO to both. It's been over 5 years since I was supposed to start one of them.Seems to me is is like a crap shoot - as far as which doctor will tell you how many years. And I have heard of women who took it and the BC still came back. I skipped chemo because I knew I wouldn't be able to handle the side effects. I have Complex-PTSD - I won't take anything that will cause me any side effects. ANY!
