I recently just finished Radiation and now have to make a decision about hormone therapy. I am 35 yr old and my BC was estrogen positive. My onc presented me with two options- 1. Tamoxifen or 2. Letrezole with monthly Lupron shot to Supress my ovaries. I’m comcerned about side effects and quality of life. I’m looking for candid feedback from anyone that is near my age and has gone either rout for treatment.
Thank you!
Hmm I was told tamox as I'm 54 premeno. He says letrazole for postmeno. I'm on tamox only about a month so far so good but I'm scared of se.
I am on Letrazole(6 mos out)...and I am 57/post menopausal...which is different than your situation. However, I have never experienced hot flashes(not even with menopause) until I went on this med...numerous hot flashes around the clock....and joint stiffness. The other issue is weight gain...wish I could say there were better side effects!
I am 52 but I couldn't take either of them. Tamoxifen gave me night sweats so bad I froze because I was constantly wet. I threw them out.
Letrazole gave me a huge arthritis flare up from the waist down. I couldn't walk or sleep I was in so much pain.
I know they work for some people, just not me.
What is your age?
I've been on tamoxifen since feb 1st '17. I literally dont have any side effects. Hotflashes once in a while, but just getting hot and no sweating. I take 20 mg in the am( because then I'll remember it) and it eorks good.
