Im against Chemo, looking for others like me... ER+ PR+ HER2-
I did not have chemo had er+PR+HER2-. they recommended it for me. I had shots of Lupron quarterly and did tamoxifen for 2 years and then aromasin for 3. that was 17 years ago!! I did have a reoccurrence just under the mastectomy scar which they said had nothing to do with having or not having chemo....
Hi Juls76! I went into cancer with a preconcieved notion that chemo is bad and initially thought no way would I do it. But all my test results were in the gray zone, for instance I had micrometastasis in one lymph node and my oncotype score was 20, just over the "low risk" range. So I asked my doctor tons of questions, I did some of my own research reading and I meditated on it. I really thought I might do chemo at one point, but in the end my instinct was no chemo. It was a really hard decision for me, I really meditated on it for a whole day and used a decision making tool as well. I had a lumpectomy, radiation, and my doctor put me into menopause with Zoladex injections and Arimidex which I am still taking. Since I didn't do chemo, he said he wanted to "maximize" my treatment. None of any of that has been easy, but I was too scared to do nothing. I will tell you that I had a long six month period of intense worrying that maybe I should have done chemo after all, and that finally just shifted recently so I now feel confident in my decision again. I realized two things: no matter what choices we make, we all live with some fear of recurrence and worry that we did the "right" thing. And, on a more spiritual note, we are all living and dying at the same time every minute, and I'm not sure why but that gave me great comfort to think of life as a continuum without beginning or end. Hope that helps! Let me know how things are going for you:)
I do not like chemo too. I'm ER+PR+HER2- as well. My OncotypeDX gave me a result of 26 which means mid but close to the higher end of cancer coming back. Took me a lot of researching. Onco suggested that I have chemo done. I am 44 years old and I have a 14y/o son and 12y/o daughter. I told myself, I will be there to see my grandkids. I chose to have chemo.
Good luck with your decision. Just whatever it will be, always stay positive. Hugs.
That completely resonates with me!
This brings up a lot of questions and answers for me. I am not against chemo, but I did not choose it for myself. If that resonates, I'll be happy to share more about my decision. You have to do what feels right for you, without basing decisions on fear, which is so f...ing hard!
