I didn't even see my ONC until after my BMX and chest exoander operation. So I was just dealing with my Breast Surgeon and the PS she sent me to. I had little more than 2 weeks between dx and my surgery. My mind was not functioning . I think they should not push reconstruction on us until our bodies and minds have time to heal. No one ever even suggested that the resukts of reconstruction might look terrible. That is what I am dealing with. My breasts are not like normal breasts, so I am not sure what the point. So to put my health at risk for the rest of my life for ugly, mismatched FOOBS, I don't think so. I do blame my doctors for pushing me into something that was dangerous.

What makes me so mad, now is I was never given the proper Information in the beginning . I think if I had I would have started to research the toxic chemicals before I let them put expanders in me, I know that reconstruction is a personal choice but I do think we need to have all the relevant information before making that choice. I think my first PS appt was a week after my TNBC dx. I was still in shock when I met withnthe PS. My husband was with me who was very against reconstruction. So I am sure if e PS mentioned any complications my husband would have jumped on it,

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am already an A size. Because of all that I have read, I am choosing not to have reconstruction. You are having an impact even if you did not ask to be an inspiration to others!

MRI's to check the status of implants is not considered medically necessary, so most insurance will not pay for it. They will pay for an MRI if your doctor says it is to find new cancers. The CT scan I will be getting in May had to have a medical reason. So my ONC had to code it to say he suspected mets to my bones. If he said it was a followup scan they would not pay. Even with Medicare we still pay over $300 a month for Medicsre Part B, drug plan and supplemental insurance.

@A MyBCTeam Member I am sure your experience has seen it all. I really get mad that our breast surgeons, ONC's and PS's all fail to do their job. They make you make decisions so quickly when we have just been dx'd and then use scare tactics to talk us into reconstruction. I was told I would regret the decision and I would be concave. I was never told I would have to have a MRI every 3 years and pay for it myself or replace them every 10 years or sooner. They never gave me a list of side effects. I did have to sign something but it was when I was in the pre op area right before they gave me anesthesia and they were attaching a pain pump. My breast surgeon was there but I did not see PS before surgery. I have since changed PS's and my new one did my last 2 revisions because my incision kept opening.
