I had modified radical mastectomy 2 days ago, with 2 drains inserted. At first, drain 1 was filling more than 2. Now, there is barely any liquid at all going to #1, just #2. Is this common?

I did far better once the drains, expanders and the nipple reconstruction were over, but it was rough in some ways getting there, great in other ways...especially now that I have almost 8 years behind that part of our journey. And some pretty impressive boobs like I used to!
Not too big and not too small!!!
Reflecting back, my biggest regret was adding another couple weeks to monitor the infection even more just to have nipples again.
I just wish I would have had foresight to see I wouldn't care, especially the fact that my hubby didn't care about those stupid nipples. Now I have to tape them because I don't need a bra and don't want them standing at attention if you get what I am saying...HAH!
My husband just likes having me here!!
We cannot move back, only forward!

Hi @A MyBCTeam Member, thanks for the info. Actually, before I left the hospital, my nurse gave me a print-out/chart so that I can record my totals. I'm supposed to take that with me to my follow-up appt. w/ surgeon on the 15th. Hugs & prayers.
It is what it is, the #1 saying in this house. Has been since the day I met my SO. Sounds like ours are alot alike. He just wants me to do whatever it takes to get healthy again and be happy.
I had 2 drains as well and in my case, 1 tapered off before the other. I had a visiting nurse for the first 7 days after surgery. She was very helpful, even though my husband took care of measuring the fluid. I believe it is normal for 1 to drain more than the other. I hope you have had them out and are in your way to recovery. I felt like they were the worst part of my surgery and once removed I had more success in healing. Some days will be better than others but reach out for help and talk things through with someone or on this site. Once said out loud, the fears we have can be conquered. My best to you.
Hey, I haven't been on in a few days. Yes, one drain will stop before the other. My surgeon said that drainage for a 24hr period needed to be less than 25ml before it could be removed. I pray your feeling well today. I'm sure you probably don't feel like yourself. I was numb under my arm, and I had a little poofy area where the surgeon put sutures.
