Diep Flap was thew best thing I ever did for myself. I had a horrible 13 surgery disaster after my mastectomy in 2008. Three doctors later, I found a fabulous one who fixed all the damage and made me feel feminine again. I was sore for about a year and still have some phantom pain in my stomach but nothing crazy. It took a good six months before I felt I could start to live my normal life again but it wasn't bad. Maybe it had more to do with my attitude, I was happy and grateful to have such an amazing and understanding plastic surgeon. Wear comfortable clothes, do NOT push yourself too hard, allow your body to heal properly and in it's good time. Eat healthy keep your bowels clear and drink TONS of water!!! Walk for exercise a little bit every day until your strength comes back. Ask lots of questions so you will feel more comfortable about what to expect when you experience something. Live and love your beautiful new YOU!!!

While I am being brutally honest about the pain. It was the best decision I could have made. I don't have to worry about replacing implants in 10 years or leaks, etc. I had a tummy-tuck with boob reconstruction. A "perk" if you will for having breast cancer. I just wish I had known sooner I was going have this procedure so I could ave lost weight. My breasts are not as big as they were pre-surgery but they are still pretty big.

Theresa I had my diep flap surgery 7 mos ago. This surgery is major surgery and me or anybody else experience will be different of coarse because everybody heals different. I am a pretty heathy person and my Bi- MX nipple sparing surgery was pretty smooth healing for me last year. This diep flap surgery was a very emotional and painful experience atleast it was for me. I went to Standford in Caif. My surgeon is one of top micro surgeons around. Everything you will read is basically the same on how many days you have to stay in the hospital I came home after 4 days and had to get out of bed a day after surgery which was very uncomfortable. I think for me for being a two time breast cancer survivor I was determined to fight my pain and move forward in this process to look and feel nature with my breast. You will be amazed how natural you look even after surgery. My suggestion is think positive and start walking and moving around after you get home or else you will feel sore more. My doctor told me this surgery is a good year process to heal and feel normal and out of pain. My breast revision and liposuction surgery is next month. I had reacurrance breast cancer 19 yrs apart and radiation on the right breast is which still doesn't look right so hopefully this surgery can make it look more symmetrical and I want smaller breast it's easier on my back. I had it done on March 30 was home after four days. Really sore I had six dreams just wear comfortable clothes it's hard to get up and down from your bed or any sitting position which really sucked for me. So I guess keep everything within reaching distance have pillows to help you get up and down from the bed and you need to elevate your head and legs at least I was told I needed to I am still healing right now it's about six weeks after my surgery. Doing physical therapy my scars are healing good I do have pictures on my profile if you want.. and this is all talk to text since I'm doing it on my phone so hopefully it makes sense any questions please ask
