Tried 2 so far with bad side effects ! Femera made my body ache and Arimidex gave me bad headache with blurred vision ! What can I take that's natural without bad side effects ? I have HER positive and need to take for 5 years so cancer does not return , please help
I have had many friends and acquaintances say they had such bad side effects from Arimidex that their quality of life was ruined. I have pretty much decided to use holistic natural cancer fighting treatments, supplements and food/lifestyle when my chemo is finished, to enjoy the rest of my life as healthy as possible.
I am stage 1, HER ++ and had a double mastectomy because of 2 different kinds of cancer detected. (Got mammograms faithfully every year).
Finally finishing 6 rounds of strong chemo + herception on July 12th. After that, 2 breast reconstruction surgeries and then herceptin alone until April 1st. Not easy, but worth it.
I just turned 67 (birthday was yesterday) and it might be a different decision if cancer had spread to lymph nodes or other organs. Mine is a pretty harsh preventative treatment which I agree with. I have always been a strong fighter, try to be optimistic and lived a healthy active life. My husband is 10 years older than I am, and I don't want to spend any quality time not living life to the fullest with him, my grandchildren and friends. I do fight slight depression and neuropathy already, which I understand can increase greatly with this drug. Former major back surgery from a car accident requires me to walk, swim, bike, etc. or that will worsen.
I still plan regular check ups, but I am taking control of my body. For me, this is the right decision - I know everyone is different, and I am sending light and prayers to everyone going down this bumpy road.
Femara made me want to die. I'm on Exemestane more commonly known as aromasin. I feel so much better on this than the femara. I'm Her negative but positive for estrogen and progesterin. If you are post menopausal, your ovaries aren't making the hormones. It's your adrenal glands. They put out this amatase and when that hits your fat cells it turns into female hormones. So they told me to get my BMI(body mass index) below 25. Sorry about the spelling errors. Good luck.
I feel more nervous about the hormone therapy then the Chemo itself. I might opt not to do any of that after radiation. I thought about removing my only ovary that I have. I guess after meeting with my BS I will learn more. I just want a good quality of life.
I am starting to take B-12, high dose vitamin C,
Co Q10, small amount of apricot pits for vitamin K 17.
( I only eat 9 per day-- too many can be toxic), hydrogen water or alkaline water and organic food whenever possible, Cannabis oil when my medical marijuana card comes next month-- it's the CBC and THC in combination that attacks cancer cells- not healthy cells.
I also want to try oxygen treatments once off chemo.
Does anyone else have recommendations? I am doing a lot of research, but it helps to hear what has benefited other survivors.
Sending white light to everyone here who are dealing with cancer issues. 💞
