Sue excellent info. Thank you. You said it all. I never had urinary infections until I had BC. It is definitely a side effect of the meds we take.

Yes, cause and effect.

Aromatase Inhibitor (No Estrogen) causes INCREASED risk of:
a. Urinary Tract Infection
and
b. Urinary Incontinence
related to the changes in the tissues dryness, irritation, bleeding, etc.

This is something that the Medical Oncologist do NOT tell you when you start taking the Aromatase Inhibitor drugs.

What I have found that works:
Vaginal dryness:
1. Revaree- Vaginal suppository that is a moisturizer. Works great. NO more bleeding and pain.
2. Imvexxy 4mg Vaginal suppository- Estrogen. Approved by my Medical Oncologist, OBGYN, Sexual Medicine MD.
3. Coconut 🥥 Oil. Use liberally externally and internally daily.

Just a FYI

I had two earlier this year. One in June and one in September. I am on Fulvestrent which is a hormone blocker for postmenopausal women with metastatic breast cancer. My oncologist has my general practitioner treat infections that I get as a side effect. He does monitor my neutrophils and white blood cell count. I had a virus in Feb., covid in March followed by a secondary sinus infection that required antibiotics, two urine tract infections that required antibiotics this summer. I am currently on antibiotics for cellulitis in my left shin. My GP and I discussed having me under go a more through urinary analysis if I get another UTI anytime soon. That will tell him if a different antibiotic then the common one he has subscribed is indicated for treatment . ALWAYS see a doctor right away if you notice an infection worsening and also let your Oncologist know what you're going through. When I was first diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer I researched what one dies from if they die from metastatic breast cancer and the answer was infection. Because of our reduced immune systems we need to be hypervigilant about treating infections. When I got covid it came on me like a ton of bricks. Luckily the sinus and bladder infections were milder. My leg infection came out of no where and has been the most severe of the bacterial infections. We cancer patients need to take all infections seriously and need to be vigilant in monitoring and treating them.

There are tons of women on here who have had to deal with urinary tract infections when on AI’s who did not have that problem before.

Women need to be aware of this.

It is even possible for some to have a series of urinary tract infections in one year.

You most likely need to see your GP or Internist for this to have a urine test
and antibiotics.

Some also use cranberry juice and AZO
cranberry capsules in addition.
