I am having a unilateral mastectomy in March with Diep Flap reconstruction. I will have a reduction on the right after radiation. I'm not going to lie, I'm nervous about the surgery. My only other surgery to date was getting my port in. Thank you for sharing.
@A MyBCTeam Member, Hi Doll. I had bilateral mastectomy with diep flap reconstruction December 14th. I choose to have bilateral because I was BRCA 1 positive and had a reduction of my good breast from DD to C. I didnt have enough fat to produce two "c" cup breast so I have the flap on the right which was the one with the tumor and a expander on the left. I will say I am happy with the results. It wasnt painful for me at all. My stomach is healing very well. I have a little back pain when I sit to long. Im 7 weeks post surgery and I recently return to the gym with no restrictons. God has you no need to worry. Best wishes and keep us posted.
I had DIEP flap reconstruction and was only choice I could have. It was not gonna b my plan at first. Yes it is a very hard surgery and recovery. And yes I would do it again if had to. I am very pleased with my looks. I had bilateral reconstruction and after it heals u r done except for nipples and very simple surgery. Not like the expander so and fill ups. Y r well and done. I was 56 yrs old when had done 4 yrs ago.

What are reconstruction options for dbl mastectomy? We're not eligible for diep flap due to high BMI
